The tragic clown
Sunny the Tragic Clown is a non-playable character in the Sims.
It's his job to make your Sim more miserable when they're in a bad mood.
He will only appear if his portrait is somewhere on the lot.
Like I said, he'll make your Sim more miserable, that's because his tricks always fail.
The only way he'll make your Sim actually a bit happier is if your interact with him and insults him.
The Tragic Clown mostly wanders around the house coughing and crying.
The Tragic Clown will only leave the lot under the following circumstances:
In Hot Date the Tragic Clown will sometimes pop out of the large cake instead of the entertainers.
However, the audience will boo him and he will eventually flee the lot.
In Hot Date the Tragic Clown can also appear DownTown if the lot contains a Burger Clown sign.
With Vacation, He'll appear on Vacation Island lot if the vacationing Sims moods are low.
Vacation Director Kana will eventually shoo the Tragic Clown but he'll leave earlier if the moods of the Sims have been raised.
With Superstar, the Tragic Clown may occasionally appear in Studio Town as one of the backup dancers in place of the usual performers when a famous Sim record a music video.
With Makin' Magic, the Tragic Clown can also occasionally appear on the autumnal lot Magic Town.
He'll ride the roller coasters and talk to the clown janitor, Witty Washout.
According to the Prima Official Strategy Guide: "The Tragic Clown used to have an unmentionably close affiliation with Burger Clown Partnerships Incorporated, but that relationship was ended abruptly. The Tragic Clown has never fully recovered..."

- Sell the Tragic Clown painting, this will prevent him from returning unless of course you buy another painting of the tragic clown.
- Hire the clown catchers to capture the Tragic Clown, they will chase the poor clown down and capture him, they will also repossess the Tragic Clown painting to ensure he doesn't come back.
